Stop action animation takes a while and a lot of patience but a class I teach is really getting into it. Here's the latest stop action animation they created. It took them about an hour to create and I added the sound effects to it later for them. Movies like the Nightmare Before Christmas were created using this technique and took 3 years to create. Stop action animation is a series of pictures where the animator takes a picture and then moves the figure slightly and then takes another picture. After the animator takes 100 pictures he has 10 seconds of footage if it's played back at 10 frames per second.
